There is a strange little moment when everything you have planned becomes real.
The boxes are unloaded.
The palette you have imagined for months is finally filled with the most beautiful things — carefully selected, designed and placed exactly where they belong.
And then there is that quiet hustle.
That beautiful, controlled chaos when everything begins to fall into place.
This title has resonated with me particularly strongly this week.
An entire year's planning for two major events is coming together within three days of each other.
So, yes… the doors can open.
But before they do, there is that moment.
That moment when you look around and realise that the picture you have seen so many times in your mind's eye is standing right in front of you.
It is almost like a hamster on a wheel — that picture has been running around in your head for months, and suddenly, it has become real.
And before those doors finally open, do yourself one favour.
Walk the room.
Take it all in.
Look at the details. The colours. The little things nobody else may even notice, but that you agonised over.
And if you can, pat yourself on the back.
Not arrogantly.
Just gratefully.
Because you have been given another opportunity to take something that existed only in your head and heart and present it to a room full of people.
People who have come to celebrate.
To enjoy themselves.
To make memories.
And perhaps, if you're lucky, to experience that little moment of WOW that you knew was waiting for them all along.
That, for me, is the magic of events.
The doors open.
The guests walk in.
And for a few precious hours, all the planning, worrying, designing, fixing, changing, checking and re-checking disappears.
What remains is the reason we did it in the first place.
Celebration.
Party.
Fun.
Nothing else.
